Laboratorul Biochimie - Proteomică
The main research topic of the Biochemistry-Proteomics Laboratory focuses on molecular mechanisms in solid cancers (mainly very aggressive tumors such as pancreatic adenocarcinoma and glioblastoma), especially cell signaling. Our main focus is identifying signaling nodes impacting tumor cell proliferation, which can be modulated by inhibitors. To this end, we focus on multiplex detection of intracellular proteins relevant to oncogenic cell signaling, as well as evaluation, as a secondary mechanism, of chronic inflammation.
Secondly, we have established various collaborations with SMEs as part of implementing expertise in biomedical research, technology transfer and innovation to the private sector in the fields of health and medical biotechnology. Following these collaborations, we are now specialized in performing cytotoxic analyses of various purified compounds and evaluate their proliferative effect.
As a future research trend, we aim to develop spheroids and tumor organoids, for gene editing, as tools for better understanding the roles of various genes in oncogenesis. By combining the two methods, we will be able to obtain more accurate information on cell proliferation, growth rates and invasiveness of malignant cells.
